SCGobbler

Made a bad decision this morning; I should have trusted my stuff.

I struck a gobbler about 150 yards away from me.  I thought it was too far so I cut the difference in half.  He was roosted in a line of pines across a creek bottom and they lit into a field.

I decided to cut the difference between us in half.  I found a nice large walnut tree to sit under and settled in.  Things got quiet so I quit calling.

Low and behold, that gobbler came directly to where I struck him the first time.  I had cut the difference in half and slightly to the right.  This put him about 75 yards to my left and well outside gun range.

Once again... I should have trusted my instincts and not second guess myself

Ya'll be good!

Bummer...I have done that more times then I care to admit.

I always seem to second guess myself and most time it always feels like I should've went with my first thought.

Hate to hear it. I have been there myself. Keep on them!

The decision to change position is the biggest gamble you make turkey hunting, it will either help you or hurt you.  I have been told by old time hunters that when you think you should move, wait five minutes.  I've added to that, when the first five minutes are up wait five more!  It's part of the game, we have all had it happen.
