Sounds like the Pioneer Weapons Area near Cave Run Lake.  Nice territory.  You are going to have to find one on gunbroker.com or some other site.  I looked for several months trying to find an "old style" percussion muzzleloader.  Never did and ended up with a Knight TK2000 that I'm very happy with but would not be legal on the PWA.  CVA made a double barrel and T/C had a single barrel New Englander that would both work.  I looked hard for the New Englander.  At times Dixie Gun Works in Union City TN has some used guns.  Good luck.

I use a Thompson Center tree hawk 12ga in the pwa. I may know a gunsmith and choke builder in my area that could find one. It may take a few days but I will contact him and get back with you.

Very hard now to find one in good condition.  So many were stored over a fire place as a decoration.  The heat really messed up the stocks if nothing else.  A muzzleloader that was properly cleaned/stored is a rare find these days on the used gun market.

Just curious - did he have any luck finding one?  People must be hoarding them.

BTT - Just curious if anyone found anything.  I would add the old CVA Trapper (I think?) and Perdesoli's to the mix too if anyone is searching. I have the T/C New Englander and hunt with it over a couple other inlines.

Pedersolli still makes the doubles, I believe. Cabelas had the 20's. I bought a 12 from them. The 10's and 12's had tubes. I don't think the 20 does.

ETA: looks like they don't have tubes any longer.

Sometimes you can find one at a reasonable price on this site.

I started out with muzzleloader shotguns for spring gobblers with this T/C Blackmountain Mag. 12ga. If you can find a used T/C New Englander you might get a decent price. I killed this one bird with it and then went to flintlocks.

They are all so ridiculously priced I just started building my own flintlocks.

Is it a kit that you buy and assemble or much more hands on gunsmithing required?

Traditions..if they're still in business..made a fairly simple kit for percussion and flintlock shotguns and rifled muzzleloaders. You just assembled the parts and finished the stock. The prices were about as low as you could get.

Some builders sell guns in the "white"..which are assembled and you just finish the stocks, etc., the way you want. Others sell rough pre-shaped stocks and components and you have to do gunsmithing work.

I personally don't buy the kits or pre carved stocks and do a lot of gun smith work.

A good place to find what's available is this site..on the Gun Builders Bench. Just ask about what you want and I'm sure you'll get up to date info.
