TSS shot
« on: April 07, 2011, 06:45:23 PM »
I live under a rock and only come out to hunt, trap, and fish. With that being said, I would love to know what is this TSS amo. I have read posts where people love it, and if it is that good I may convince myself that I need some.
Jakes are like scotch. They are not worth a darn until they age.

It's a heavy shot.

I believe they refer to it as Tungsten Super Sinker Shot?

It is super dense shot
Called Tungsten Super Shot
I believe (someone correct me if Im wrong) the shot is 18g/cc
Lead is 10.6g/cc and hevi13 is 12g/cc
Most people use #8 shot and I believe it penetrates like lead #4s

If you "Google" it you'll find several importers and sources for it. It comes in various sizes.

Thanks,

It is in use by handloaders for now. It is dense, holds a very tight pattern over a long distance, and it is very very expensive.

I have tried it but find its expense outweighs its advantages as far as normal turkey ranges. If I hunted big fields , huge openings, it may become a thought but not likely.

See  on OG or NWTF for more info. #9s are actually coming into vogue now.

$32.00 a pound. Plus all your other components. 2 oz load = 8 shells so about $6.00 per shell

Is there anywhere to buy it already loaded?  For those of use that do not hand load.
