3in. vs. 3.5 loads

As with most consensus it seems guns capable of shooting either 3in. or 3.5 in loads, pattern better with 3in. loads, as compared with the same load and shot size in 3.5in.?

I realize every combination, load and gun is different, and one must shoot both to see what patterns better?
But just curious if there is anyone that has better patterns with 3.5in. loads out of their setup, as compared with the same load and shot size in 3in.? And if so, what's your setup, gun, load and choke?

Just looking for feedback from 12 gauges only and no overbored guns, as most of these overbored and 10 gauges do pattern better in 3.5in. Thanks

Out of my 835 shooting the 3.5" Hevi-13 #7's vs shooting the 3" #7's is nite and day difference with the .676 Star Dot choke.  The 3.5" just puts up way better patterns that are a lot more denser.  But granted there is definately more shot, but the majority of that extra shot hits right down the middle.

Sorry about that.  I read your last part about overbored barrels.

spaightlabs

Benelli M2, Jellyhead, 3 inch 2 oz Heavy 13 7s, no rest, 44 degrees outside, good breeze, 240 in the 10, core of pattern a little right of point of aim.

I'll shoot the same load out of the Gold 3.5 chamber with the same choke this weekend...
