Is this good enough

First year shooting this load.
Rem 870 12 ga
3 " federal flight control number 4s
Tru glo gobbler stopper choke

57-60 in the circle and 18 in the head not including body.

I have always shot 5 and 6. So I'm not to familiar with 4s

It's good enough at that distance. The norm is 100 pellets in the 10 at a said distance is a good hunting pattern at that said distance.

I've always gone by the 100 rule but didn't know if the shot size played a role

Thanks.

I'd prolly try a different load. Give some 5's and 6's a try. My best patterns with lead have come from Winchester HV's and federal turkey thugs.

I agree with Justin. Personally, I wouldn't hunt with it. At the bare minimum, you should have 80-100 pellets in a 10" circle. When you fall below that, you have reached your maximum leathal distance.
I bet if you go with 5's or 6's your 10" numbers wll really jump up. Good luck!

This is what I was wanting to here.  I've always had good luck with 6s but gave  the 4s a shot.  Just means I get to go to the range one more time.

I would ditch the 4's too, pellet count is just too low.  Go with the 6's if that is what you had luck with, they have plenty of power to 40 yards and you will have way more pellets than those 4's.

Went to find some of the turkey thugs today but couldn't find any.  Winchester 6s put me in the 120s at 30.
Will do for this year.  The girlfriend won't shoot past 30 and I only use it as a backup for my bow

Clean the barrel, Use HEVI #7, and get a Jelly head, HEVI or Indian creek choke (.660 -670) Case closed...
