KICKS .655 for Remington Question
« on: March 29, 2013, 02:07:34 PM »
Wondering if anyone shoots this tube out of a Remington.  I am wanting to give it a try but scared that it might produce holes in my pattern by being too tight.  I have always had good uniform patterns using Kicks out of other guns but I have never experimented with any of this tight a constriction.  I plan on either shooting 6s or 7s.

The Kick's .655 in your Remington should throw a nasty pattern with either shot size in both the Hevi's and Nitros, especially with the 7's.   :OGturkeyhead:

I have a .650 GT, and a .665 GT for my 870.

My belief is that .655 or .660 is probably the best bet with a GT in a RemChoke gun.

.650 is a hair too tight, and .665 is a hair too open with a GT.....compared to the patterns I get from my Indian Creek .665 and .675 chokes in the same 870.

It seems like a little extra constriction is better with a GT choke.  Nice choke, just go with a tight one.

It'll handle hevi just fine. Mine does.

I shoot that choke in a 21 bbl rem 870. Turns great patterns with all the winchester Pb 3"/6's and hevi 3"/7's.

*150's in a 10 @ 40 with Pb 6's
*230's in a 10 @ 40 with Hevi 7's

*My gun puts the entire pattern inside a 10 inch circle at 20yds. If the turkey gets close you really have to be on him..

With my .650 Kick's GT, 1 - 1 1/8 ounce loads of #6, 7.5, or 8 birdshot pattern tight and even.
Bad news for Squirrels or Crows.

A .655 GT is probably just right for Lead in RemChoke.

It did fairly good with the 7s and was absolutely horrible with the 3" mag blends that I just tried for giggles.  But I still couldnt believe how horrible it was.  Looked like a modified choke imo.

I shoot the .655 Kicks in my 870sm. So far Winchester lead #6s are the ticket.
