Heartbreak in SC
« on: March 30, 2013, 05:51:24 PM »
Called in 4 nice longbeards this morning.

3 subs and a dominant gobbler.  Dominant gobbler was 3rd in the line.  Had them at 15 yards and my son shot over the dominant bird.

Two flew left and two flew right.

they'll be there for Monday!!!  Poor kid!

The boy missed his second turkey today.

Flash hunt that lasted all of 3 minutes.  We got off the RTV about 100 yards back from a hilltop running down to a 4acre green field.  I called on top of the hill before walking down and got a strike about 100 yards away.

We sat down and got ready and I called agin to locate him.  He had cut the distance more than half.  I had the conversation of when to shoot, wait for me to say shoot, etc... and he shot over the birds.

Super red head, that bird was running hot and heavy.

I am going to talk to a local gun smith about getting a rear iron sight tapped on his single shot .410 ao he has to cheek down on the gun.  I hope that gets him squared away.
