Roosting fall versus roosting spring
« on: February 22, 2013, 03:53:53 PM »
While I was bowhunting this past fall these 2 gobblers always roosted just up the hill from my stand. I would hear them fly down every morning and even gobbled one morning which is rare for the fall here. I did lay eyes on them one time and they are definitely some healthy birds. My question is would they roost in the same area come spring? I have never turkey hunted this bottom mainly because its so grown up with briars and stuff in the spring.

When the spring cycle begins the Gobblers may or may not leave the area. The winter flocks will breakup and scatter. The Hens will seek out food and nesting areas, the gobblers will follow. The habitat you describe should provide good nesting areas. The gobblers will likelybe in the same general area. The pecking order will determine whether those same Gobblers will be roosting in close proximity to the Hens in that area.
