Saddle mount suggestions?
« on: February 26, 2012, 04:35:46 PM »
I'm looking at possibly picking up a saddle mount for my Benelli Nova and have come across two different models. One is by B Square and the other by Sun Optics. Was wondering if anyone had any firsthand experience with either of these.

I ended up seeing the AimTech after I originally posted. Have you used any of them?

I have used B square, Aim tech, and Redfield/ Weaver.  Back in the day you couldnt look under the mount at the bead with the B square only aim tech.

All three are quality mounts. I prefer the aim tech, because it leaves a channel underneath so you can use your bead. I have a B square on my stoeger only beacuse it was the only brand that made a mount. You cant see the bead.

Aim tech also makes a rail that mounts to the rib of your gun. It looks pretty sweet to.

No, and I didn't want to take the chances of getting it drilled and tapped as I have heard it can be quite tricky.

I had a B-Square on my Nove and I absolutely hated having a saddle mount on my gun. It wasn't the. Rand I just didn't like a saddle so I had my gun drilled and tapped and when that route.

Saddle mounts are not so great...I'd spend the extra cake and have a rail put on...my .02

It's looking like I'm going to have it done. Does anyone know if drilling and tapping voids the warranty? I've got a few years left and I'd hate to leave myself having to pay for possible repairs that would have otherwise been free if I should happen to have issues at some point.

millit mount

Looks like the only one they have that might work for me would be one of the multi-slot shotgun rails which looks a lot like a regular picatinny rail. None were designed for the Nova particularly. I figure I could get it drilled and tapped. Redarrow gave me a tip on one that he's using for his Nova 20ga. He's got a slick little setup.

I have a B-square on my 870 and like it. You can see the bead under the mount also.
