TK 2000 at 80 yards?????????
« on: February 08, 2012, 07:43:12 PM »
Here is what Knight put on FB:

Knock down power confirmed out to 80 yards, the TK2000 is the only way to hunt turkeys this season! Now for sale at www.Knightrifles.com

I must be missing something because I wouldn't use mine past 45 the way it shoots and would feel a lot better at 35 yards. Anyone know about the 80 yard stuff or was it a typo? reflex264

I hope they didn't post anything that stupid.  My TK does fine at 40 yards.  I suppose it could be test fired at 80 yards for fun but I don't enjoy the kick enough to test fire at ranges I would never shoot at a bird.  Hevi and Cabelas is getting heat for their 75 yard ad.  This might top them.

What is "FB"?

I hope nothing is  really going on.  It appears a few gun and shell manufacturers seem to think that bragging about an extreme killing range is a good thing.  My "new" TK2000 does just fine at 40 yards, probably would do okay at 45 if I misjudge the yardage.  I won't pattern it any further than that.

I shoot both a Knight and I shoot HS. and I think its down right disgusting for both to promote such crap. It just promotes irresponsibility in people thinking its alright taking these kind of shots. Come on people!! :TrainWreck1: FOR SURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

80 yards!  :TooFunny: I own a TK 2000 and IMO it's a 40 yard gun, maybe 45 under ideal conditions. The only turkey gun I have capable of taking an 80 yard shot is my 22 Hornet rifle!

When it warms up I am going to take mine out and shoot a turkey target at 80 yards to see if I can get more than 5 pellets on a piece of paper. ;D

Other than larger pellets, and probably hevi shot at that im not sure that theres enough energy to kill a turkey at 80yds :z-dizzy: I consider the setup i use in my TK 2000 a solid 40yd turkey slayer, but thats about it! I do have a kill at 52yds with #6 hevi shot but that gun/load had the stuff to do it!

80 yards? No way would I try that unless just shooting it for fun. I shoot my TK2000 no more than 45 yards
and it will do just fine and I totally agree with what bustinbirds said "It just promotes irresponsibility in people thinking its alright taking these kind of shots."

Well I have been off the muzzleloader thing for a while but time to get back at it. I have a bird that if I can kill it will be the new TN bp record eastern. I will start working with the TK2000 and Encore shortly. reflexl

shot this pattern yesterday(3/29/13) with my tk2000 at 50 yards
1. had 20 hits in head and neck
2. had over 70 hits within 15" pattern circle

Used 3' shot cup and ITX Turkey Trauma 13-mix of #4 and #6 shot from BPI
over 90 gr. of BlackMZ
had better patterns last year but used 3 1/2" cups with 2 oz. of #6 shot  over 110 gr. of Black MZ but had to cut back due to car accident  (my car got hit by drunk/doped up driver)

I wouldn't be afraid of using this gun with these loads at 55 yards.
