Will burls warp on you?

If you were to turn a green burl would it warp on you if you sealed it right away? I am wondering because a burl doesnt really have a straight grain but a jumbled mess of a grain. When you cut burls, do you just leave the bark on them and seal the open cut then forget about them for 2 years?

Yes it will warp on you. Burls are a different beast when they dry and tend to really move in different directions. The best thing to do is cut it into blanks and seal the whole blank with anchor seal and forget about them for about a year. Certain burls react to drying differently than others, but just like any wood, you can get it to dry slow and not have much problem with it.

Thanks ryan, I cut a whole bunch of burls and have them sealed up.  :icon_thumright:
