What constriction for 12ga #7-#9 TSS
« on: March 29, 2023, 07:15:09 PM »
Was wondering what ID of constriction usually works best with 12 gauge #7-#9 TSS? Have read over and over that to tight of choke tends to result in bad or blown patterns.
Everything I have been reading says out of a 12ga 3" shells for #7-#9 shot to begin at 0.665"

This is my first year doing much pattern testing, but I have been getting 350 in the 10” at 40 yards with Apex and Boss 3” loads out of the Rob Roberts Raptor (I believe .660) and a SumToy .665 out of an Invector Plus tube.  I have some 3.5” shells as well as .675 tubes I’d like to try, but haven’t gotten the time/weather combo to line up yet.

I shoot .675 in both my 12 gauges, an older Rem SF HS .675 in my 11-87, and a ST .675 in my Beretta 686 UL O/U. They both shoot lights out with 8s, 8.5s, and 9s. Have never shot TSS 7s and never intend to.
