They are different, but you can't make a judgement call about them in only buying from one builder.  The goal is the same to produce a sound, but the way you achieve this is different with so many different variables in how easy one is to play / style / mouthpiece type and dia. from different makers ...IMO  ... That's a good looking horn...

Thanks Greg, appreciate your insight! Just trying to keep out of the dreaded builder blues. Things can get so repetitious!

Just remember, spend the cash on a high end trumpet from a repeatable builder. For the most part you get what you pay for. Also if you decide you don't like you can easily get your money back plus some when you sell it.

Yep, get that. This one come from a shady character, but I'm only out about $8, a few hours of time and whatever it cost me to fire off a couple 25-06 rounds :)

I think you built a fine looking trumpet. The proof will be how the turkeys respond, and the good thing is you can tweak the specs to obtain the sound you want.. stay with it. But, for me, I would prefer smaller mouthpiece.

That one looks pretty small to me, unless I'm missing something???

That is a good looking horn. The lip stop could be smaller or a different material.

I practice with a different call maker's trumpet everyday.  I'm no expert, but everything Greg says in his post is very true based on my experience.  Ease of play is very important, but sound is the main factor IMO.  Some trumpets that take more time to figure out may sound better than some that are easier to play.  For me part of the fun is figuring each one out.  I like your design btw.

Plain rubber stopper lip stops are not my favorite.  If you could grind them down so they angled away from the lips would help IMO.  I can run trumpets with a plain rubber lip stop, but figuring them out and getting the right position slows me down.  They tend to be less comfortable too.  Just a slight angle would work.  The one pictured is a 10% angle.

Lip stops make a huge difference on the ease of running a a call IMO. I prefer angled but much prefer rounded as it's easier where you want to run from or how much pressure you want to put against the mouthpiece. I like almost no pressure as the call will run sooo much easier and sexier. Just my opinion.
