Actually, the proposed scenario is pretty easy for me to relate to. More than once, after spending weeks without dropping the hammer on a bird, it has become worse than a simple matter of life or death!

I’m taking daylight to noon, and I plan on getting to the Waffle House before lunch.
If I'm not back in five minutes, wait longer!

I’m from Virginia so I’m more used to daylight to noon. It takes some getting used to for me in the afternoon.

Most of my out of state kills tho, have been noon to dark.

To Cuz's point "if my life depended on it," rather than my personal preference, you will find me in the roost area come evening and fly up time.

This, exactly.

Noon to dark. If you get one to gobble after lunch it’s game on!

The vast majority of my birds have been in the first 2 hours of the day. That said my ratio of birds killed:worked is better later in the day, just havent found that many willing participants later on.

Ok, 'll return to the serious side now. I still would pick noon until dark and for the same reason, more time. As much as I hate that style of hunting, I would be camped out for hours on a good looking spot. I assume we are hunting a known area. I know many areas where all you have to do is sit and wait and sooner or later they'll be there. I'd just be hoping that was this day. I have never hunted this way and never intend to, but if my life was depended on it I'd do it. I doubt I'd even call unless I had to steer a bird. I call it deer stand hunting and I know people who do it and then let everyone know how great a turkey hunter they are. Take them out of their ambush honey hole and they are dead ducks. I ain't one of those guys...

After noon

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

I’ve killed a lot of afternoon birds in my day , but I’ve noticed with thinner turkey densities evening hunts are less eventful . Regardless of how many I’ve killed in the evening I wouldn’t trade it for morning hunt if my life depended on it.
