Ronnie's Regimen
« on: January 24, 2023, 09:44:28 AM »
Wandering around the OG forum, I noticed a post by Guesswho from way back in August that I had not seen before.  With my normal exceptional high level of astuteness and attentiveness, I am shocked that it has taken me six months to see it....NOT.  As we draw nigh the spring season, I felt that I, being the not-yet-deposed team captain, should present it under the GOATS team forum such that all of us could try to catch up with our training.  I am sure Ronnie is, by now, in tip-top shape having had a half-year head start,...at least on me!

Here is his training schedule:  (Use it wisely, but don't overdo it!  I don't want any team members getting injured and unable to participate in defending our crown!)
...And I quote:

"It’s most turkeys hunters dream to one day be a GOAT.   It ain’t easy.  Very little downtime before we have to start our intense training regiment in order to stay on top of our game.   We have had a couple months off, but time to get busy.   Starting now (tomorrow) my Special High Intensity Training starts.  I recommend my fellow GOATS do the same.   Starting tomorrow and for the remainder of August my routine will be as follows.  No more sleeping late.
August- Out of bed by noon
September- out by 11:30
October- out by 11:00
November- out by 10:30
December- out by 10:00
January- out by 9:30
February- out by 9:00
March -out by 8:30 (My Spring Opener)

This training really pays off.   By opening day of season we will be finely tuned to get after them bright and early,  8:30ish, give or take based on what time you went to bed the night before.   I can tell I’m out of shape.   I got sleepy putting this regiment together.    Going to take a nap, I’ve been up almost four hours already.   But by March I’ll be a lean and mean turkey killing GOAT!"

Having the proper rest is essential to success in any endeavor. Personally, I find that getting in some hand to hand combat with some roosters, sprinting to beat my neighbors dogs into my house(they think they live here too) and eating some special protein laced ice cream that my wife whips up has raised my performance to another level. Unfortunately, only one rooster has attempted to assault me. He quickly realized he had met a better man and is pretty subdued around me now. I feel that by turkey season, I should be in perfect fighting shape. I even ate a half a deer liver today. Not many take preparation that seriously.
