Push pin(updated w pics)
« on: June 17, 2011, 12:26:21 AM »
Just made my first push pin. Took about 37 hours to complete and I'll have to charge 300.00 just to pay for my time.

BTW it wouldn't even make a sound when I got done.

Here are the pics of the push pin. I changed the peg to a piece of poplar. It is making some turkey sounds now. The first peg was walnut as well as the rest of the box.

That's why there isn't to many builders making them.  :TooFunny:
Good luck with it Joe.

What does the washer on the rubber band do ? Also most of the push pulls I have use a sharper point on the striker. Not a complete point .but pointier anyway.

There is no washer on the rubber band. It is another rubber band. I was trying both bands at the same time and 1 by itself. I tried a sharp point and then just kept filing it down until I got some sound out of it. The first striker I made was a typical striker made out of walnut and it wouldn't even make a sound.

I think you did a great job, you ought to see my first attempt at making these things, I have only made four and most likely it would take an army to make me do another. They are so simple to use but man oh man are they a booger to make.

Most that I've seen Joe have a flat filed on to of the striker peg, so it works like the rail on a box call.
