More Yildiz O/U testing
« on: July 28, 2022, 04:34:18 PM »
Did some more bottom barrel testing today with the new Trulock .591 choke with some lead loads, a pheasant load, and a tss load

What y’all think? I’ll keep trying different lead loads, but the TSS load looks great at 22yds. I’m not sure what I like better with the tss at 22 yds.

I know it is ten dollars a pop plus, but I would love to see what that .591 TSS pattern looks like at forty yards. It just might surprise you. Both the .580 and the .591 with TSS look pretty good at 25.

Shot you a PM

I tried a couple Remington Shurshot heavy dove loads today and the 7.5 patterned well

1oz, 2 3/4”, #6s and #7.5.

I shot them off hand at 25 yards

Just not sure if it’s safe to shoot a dove load at 30 yards and less. The 6s weren’t too bad either.

Probably only difference in gp and dove loads are the gp are nickel plated

Looks good.

I’m doing a hand load recipe for a copy of the gf 1 1/4 load of np 6s
Sent it off for pressure testing
If you are interested I’ll give you info after ballistic testing and I’ll pattern

So I got my load data back today
20 ga 3”
1 1/4oz nickel lead 6
Using TC20 wads (closest I could find to golden pheasant wads)
Mean velocity 1190
Mean pressure 10700
If you want recipe send me a PM
I’m going to try to load some and pattern this weekend but I expect to be pretty close to the golden pheasant

Has anyone tried the 1-3/8 oz lead load posted on Ballistic Reloading Supply?

So
I finally got around to testing my golden pheasant copy hand load. Here is 20 yard comparison out of Sumtoy 585
Golden pheasant on left hand load on right. My hand load seems to spread a little bit more

Hand load gp copy
10, 20 and 30 yards out of 585. Pattern seems to be good to about 25. Anything past that I’d shoot TSS out of my other barrel

Nice job, your pattern is more even than the GP, not as clumpy. Should do great out to 25
