Polish a Chrome Lined Barrel?
« on: April 20, 2022, 10:18:48 PM »
Many years ago, I polished both my Remington and Browning guns that were specific for turkey hunting. The bores were mirror like and I lightly touched them up each year to keep them that way. I now have a new 20 gauge with a "Chrome" lined barrel. What is the recommended method for deep cleaning and wringing the best performance these barrels? How delicate is the chrome? Thanks!

Can not speak to the durability of a chrome lined shotgun barrel but my chrome lined AR-15/.556 barrels are very durable.

I just read up on this, and everything I read said do not polish with abrasives, just use a good cleaner with brass brush and light oil. I touch up my barrel with bore snake.

Brownell's sells a barrel polishing hone specifically for a Chrome Lined Barrel.
As I have one of them. They work very well,  like a mirror.

Have a good one
