Mossberg 500 Super Youth Bantam, IC .570, Apex Ninja #8.5s
« on: April 18, 2022, 06:29:02 PM »
Mossberg 500 Super Bantam (youth model, 22" barrel) with an Indian Creek .570 and Apex 8.5 Ninjas at 40 yards. Just for comparison, I got 232 hits in the 10" with the Ninjas and only 165 hits with Federal's TSS #9s using the same choke.

Good pattern.

My Mossy 500 Bantam patterned well with the IC .555 and the Sumtoy .562. The IC .555 was bit hotter core and went with that. Shooting TSS handloads in either straight 8s, straight 8.5s, and straight 9s.

For a hunting pattern I am pretty pleased with the .570 constriction. I actually have the .562 Indian Creek model too still new in the box, just haven’t had a chance to try it out yet. Will post results once I do. Presuming it will tighten up even more. I always feared the .555 would be too hot for my liking. The Jebs in .565 interests me too. All in due time…

Did you ever try the .562 with the Ninjas.

Not yet, need to get more Ninjas. Should’ve bought more back when they were in stock.

I cannot see the entire pattern, but it also looks like you have a really good 20 inch coverage as well. And those ninja's, they hit like a sledge hammer. I may need to try some of them in the offseason as I have yet to see a 20 gauge not shoot the Ninja really well, especially when paired with an IC choke. The Sumtoy seems to do about the same thing as well. Good luck with your set up.
