Turkey Vest Layout
« on: August 30, 2022, 11:38:03 PM »
Alright, starting post for comments for those that customize and tweak their vests.

My number one and two tweaks: MOLLE strips for adding pouches; retractable lanyard for roughing material.

Prize for best modification.

Hadn’t thought of that before. Solid.

I’ve thought about getting a sewing machine and trying it myself.

Not really a big tweak but I always attach a tourniquet in a tq pouch & ifak to any vest or hunting bag I carry.

Anything happens to get an artery bleeding & you got less than 5 minutes.

I need to learn to sew some molle loops on my grounded vest for the ifak on one side, & thermacell on the other. About the only thing that could make it better.

Maybe one dem og patches too.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Yes, magnets are an abomination. All magnets are gone from my ol Tom vest. Swaped out for regular good old buttons, not snaps. Also, sewed two plastic tubes into an inner side pocket to hold two trumpets. Sewed a dedicated long box slip pocket to the right side of my vest because I always carry a paddle box. I lashed an Esee Izula skeletonized fixed blade to my left suspender strap with a hand compass on a zinger. I moved the location of the spare shell holder to a better place. I eliminated useless pockets and added a pushpin pocket with a built in silencer, even though I seldom carry one. I added a mesh pocket for spring mushrooms, morels, pheasant backs, platterful etc. The most important modification was to add keeper flaps with buttons so I never lose another striker!!! That's not everything ive done  but most from the  last few years that I can remember while sitting on the couch.

My best vest mod. is leavng it at the truck.  I did add two small molle pouches to my rng 200, helps out a bunch on that minimalist vest!
