Drumming is definitely vocalization. Years ago on a very cold spring morning I called in a jake. He walked by very close, drumming. As he walked by I could see the breath coming out of his mouth during the drum.

I don't think I've ever heard them do it in that fall. In my experience those are two easy vocalizations everyone should know.
