That optic mount looks sweet!  Definitely need it in a 20ga, no idea why guys carry 7lb plus turkey guns with the ammo available today?

  I tote my 870 supermag just because I love this gun. I have 20 and 410 yes they’re lighter and shoot just as good at 40 yards. The 870 was there in the beginning and will not be forgotten in back of safe.

  Just goes to show the gun manufacturer not keeping up with the trend of turkey hunters going to the 20ga.

One model has the 18.5" barrel, as for it's weight, 7.5 lbs isnt heavy. I personally have never had an issue with the weight of any gun. I never base my purchasing decisions on that aspect of a firearm and I am on the go the whole season.

I also wouldn't choose a 10 gauge to walk 10 miles in the mountains,I would take a lighter gun. As for the 20 gauge not out yet, 12 gauges still out sell 20 gauges, you still only get the real avid hardcore bird hunters that go to a 20 or smaller from my years working in the hunting/fishing and my first hand experiences. It is obviously starting to change slowly, I can see it drastically being different in 7-10 years from now.

I'd like to see it in 20 gauge as well, I could never locate their other 20 in the sa turkey model.

It looks like the 18.5" is 7.25 lbs and the 24" is 7.5 lbs.

My experiences in selling turkey guns and ammo was straight forward and simple, the majority of customers did not want to spend the money for 20 gauge shells, they wouldn't even listen on 12 gauge shells, 85% at least would just buy the cheapest 12 gauge turkey load they could find. The other 15% are the avid-hardcore hunters that will entice the industry to eventually turning the 20 gauge into the 12 gauge, and the .410 into the 20 gauge. I for one would love to see the mentality here in Ontario change rapidly and start catering to 20 gauge, .410's and more specifically the shotshell size we are allowed to use, as we still stuck 10 years behind times and #7's are the smallest we are allowed by law.

I have sent numerous emails to people that are supposed to be in the "know" and you get the same old round about responce. Our mnr couldn't organize a rock fight in a gravel pit, It is a complete joke, embarrasing to say the least.

If it had come in a 20 gauge with either regular stock or pistol grip stock, that wouldn't be able to keep them on the shell in my opinion.. good looking gun, but i'm not interested in a 12 gauge model of this type gun myself..  Price is little high, but you have to pay for all that new tooling

MSRP of 1120$ to get kicked in the face by a Mossberg is not my idea of fun.

I do agree, 7-8# pounds of gun is not a heavy gun to pack. I would not let the weight be the deciding factor of a purchase of a gun I liked and planned on using.

I toted 7 plus lb guns for years, went to the 20 and hand loads specially to shed the weight.

Heavier gun isn’t a problem, but lighter is nicer!  I would have gone 28ga honestly had I researched loads a little more, but tss hand loads were just starting out!

I'm not sure how they missed the 20 gauge boat on these, hopefully it's in the pipeline. It's not a matter of 20 gauge soon to be the next 12 gauge, it already is there with shotshell technology.

We should be fair here, they made the same technology advances in 12 gauge ammo. You may be thrilled with the performance of your 20 gauge, but it's not a 12 gauge.

True enough,with the ammo. I'm never going to give up my 12's and I change them up daily.But I understand why so many are starting to gear towards the smaller gauges, I use them as well. The average hunter,that is just looking for a shotgun,flock to 12's.The trend for the hardcore turkey and waterfowler is going to 20's but that is still a small %, but gaining. The shells we have today are outstanding compared to when I was younger.

If I ever bought this new gun, I would try the 18.5" instead of the 24". I have a handful of their pumps but I never owned a mossberg semi, yet.

  Agree if i was buying one it would be the 18.5 barrel in hopes of cutting little more weight off the gun...

Looks very well made, I am surprised it does not come in 3.5 inch? I know it’s overkill, but some guys love it….It does knock em down. Oh well, nice looking gun. The price is getting up there a bit, might be the only negative thing….
