I am going to be blunt, half of our customer service at these little gun shops, or places like Cabelas sucks the hind tit. I know because I was in charge of it and seen first hand how pathetic most workers treat customers in canada. When we travelled to the Usa when I was younger, and my father still does. The customer service we have received has been 3 times as good. Our customer service in the hunting and fishing industry is a complete joke, I am not going to say, every shop but I would easily bet $1500 Canadian that the majority of the places, are arrogant, cocky, dog screwers who probably have been in the woods 4 or 5 times a year and honestly have very little actual hands on knowledge of anything outdoor related. I always tried to be polite and helpful, I have been around and in the woods and on the water for a long time now and I am still learning.

I have had some great experiences as well but Id say I'd be lucky to be 50/50 % and this isnt something new, I have witnessed it from a boss/manager's view for close to 20 years and on a customer end for as long or longer. It gets old real fast. I will never deal with that place again, as long as I have a breathe in me, no matter what.

But, enough of the bad. I found a guy that is so much easier to chat with about hydro dipping, and straight forward and explains the cost, up front and what that entails. That is all I wanted from the other place but It seemed like he didn't want business, so I hope he goes bankrupt or starves. It's a dog eat dog world and business is business.

I think we have pretty much closed the deal on original bottomland and greenleaf on a few guns and talking about a 3rd to be sent as well.

I'd say it's 50/50 here in Michigan, but the good ones are great and they will continue to get my money.

Good to hear you found a good shop for the hydro dipping. I'm starting my research for a shop here in Michigan before I start looking elsewhere.  I'd like to keep it somewhat local as much as I can.

I am just waiting to hear back about a Rem 870 20 gauge I want to send as well, I hand painted it and want to double check It isnt going to be a headache for him to dip because if it is, I won't send it.

I am going with greenleaf on my Rem 1187 20 gauge, and hopefully the shurshot grip that I hand painted, and I am getting the 870 done in original bottomland, as of now. I'll know tomorrow, or later tonight quite possibly.

I feel comfortable dealing with this place, I can tell by the way he spoke and communicated he is a solid business to deal with.

You can’t go wrong with greenleaf and bottomland. Those will be some nice looking turkey guns!

We finally have everything worked out and the patterns we are getting, I just need my 1187 to arrive,It is late, It was supposed to arrive Friday but It shows Monday by end of day.

It was going to be a 3-4 week wait on bringing in the greenleaf pattern, he already has the two other options we like and that made it an easier decision. We should have our guns back within 3 weeks if everything goes as planned and I get them shipped out early this week.

When I get my gun back, I am getting it drilled and tapped for a marlin 336 base and installing one of my warbird protectors and a vortex venom. I am sending the base and the warbird to have dipped as well.

Our 1187's are on the way back tuesday and they look great, I can't get the pictures he sent me to load, as they are jpegs, I should have them late this coming week, or early the next week. I am sending him another gun to have done, I am not sure which gun yet. I am very happy dealing with this guy.

My father is happy, he went with original bottomland, i went with, in the end, what I like the most out of the two, and that I s the "new" bottomland,I have half a dozen in that pattern but I didn't want to get the same as his, the "original" looks very good. I am just used to the "new" bottomland. He was very professional, emailed back and forth, let me know if there was any issues, when he would be doing what and when he would be done and he stuck to the price he told me.

I am thinking of either sending my winchester 1300 black shadow 22" in to be dipped, or my mossberg 835 tactical thats been used on a handful of hunts and looks older than my first gun, the 1300 does because of deet, I assume I had on my gloves.

He would be done before season with the gun, if i send him another.I am going to think it over for a day or so and then send him another one,and figure out what pattern.

I received both guns back today, I have to say, I am happy with them but I am a little irritated on the way that he packed them and shipped them back as the rods where the stock goes on were not wrapped,I shipped everything wrapped so no damage, and this is what happens when not packed properly. He will learn, you wont make any money in business if you are doing things twice for the price of once.

I am sending barrel back tommorow and he is going to re dip it, he apologized. I am also sending a shurshot grip and a base. If it was close to season,I would be upset but i'll have it back in a few weeks and I am taking the receiver to be drilled and tapped anyway and I won't be shooting for weeks yet anyway. The original bottomland looks real good,I will post up pics after he gets it back together and I will post up mine as well.

I also plan on sending him my rem 870 20 ga youth in a few weeks to have it done, in original bottomland.I was not going to but I am really impressed with the original dip in person and i think the 870 would look good in it.

Here is my 870 20 gauge youth that I painted along with the 1187 youth 20 gauge I had dipped in bottomland.I got it back today and put it togther tonight, for a brand new gun the barrel is lots of work to get clean, I am going to deep clean and polish it here in the next week, I am going to have it drilled and tapped this week, the guy was busy but has time later this week to do it.

I think I like my custom paint job as much as the dip. I'll try and get my fathers gun up for a few pictures here in the next few days, I think his looks amazing,I regret going with "new" bottomland, maybe because I already have a handful in that finish.
