Simmons NWTF Shotgun scope
« on: January 07, 2022, 03:55:18 PM »
I did a trade and have come into possession of a Simmons NWTF 1.5-5x32 Shotgun scope. Has the illuminated ProDiamond reticle. Weighs about 15oz. Have always just used a TruGlo but considering trying this out. Has anyone use one of these specific scopes? Or, comments on using a scope like this in general on a turkey gun?
Thanks

I use Red Dots and Scopes on all my Turkey guns. Let’s you center that tight pattern right where you aim…….

I love a sight on a turkey gun, whether that be a rear sight, a scope, or a red dot. That whole, “You don’t aim a shotgun,” rule don’t hold up in the turkey woods. That said, I find an adjustable power scope useless for turkeys. I’d never shoot at distances where I’d need 5x and there will seldom if ever be a moment with a bird coming in that you’ve got time to dial magnification up or down. If it’s a traditional scope I prefer a fixed magnification, and I don’t ever want anything greater than three power with a REAL preference going to two or less. Honestly with adding a pound of weight to the top of the gun, I just don’t see the advantage.

I’m running that on one of my setups and love it. Definitely killed me a bird last year I wouldn’t have killed with a bead or likely any other sight.

No, I’m running the TruGlo TruBead with the ghost ring on that gun. Really like a ghost ring.

Who's Ghost ring are you using? Does it mount to the rib or have to tap? Thanks

Comes in the set. Mounts on the rib. Mine’s not the dual color front bead, but just the red front bead. https://www.amazon.com/TRUGLO-Tru-Bead-Dual-Color-Turkey-Universal/dp/B00162PVI2/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=truglo%2Btrubead&qid=1641601594&sr=8-4&th=1&psc=1

Looks like a neat, simple setup; may try that on a Benelli M2 20 Gauge.
