Getting a perfect glue up on glass calls.
« on: January 05, 2022, 09:29:43 AM »
What are you guys doing to get good glue ups on glass calls? I use e6000 and a syringe to apply it I put down a thin beed and put my glass in I then apply even pressure on the surface. The glue looks good at first but as it drys I get little bubbles and I can not figure out why or how to get rid of the bubbles in the glue. Do you guys have any suggestions?

When you lay down the playing service take your fingers and as you push down turn it

I've tried that as well the time I tried that it made the bubbles worse. I'm not sure what is causing the bubbles.

The bubbles are normal.  You won't get rid of them.  I've glued hundreds of calls.  The tiny bubbles are a process of the glue hardening.  It's venting the gases as it dries hard.  Just like paint does.  As it dries, it releases the gas.  With paint on cars etc, the gases escape to atmosphere.   In building a call, you trap those gases from being released under the glass.  All you can do is turn the glass about a 1/4 turn to even out what squeezes out from under the glass and over the glue land.

What exactly is" plumbers glue"? Is there a brand name I should be looking for? I haven't been able to find "plumbers glue" at the local Lowe's. I might be in the wrong isle.
Thanks.

I used this method to glue up a slate call I bought as a kit.   Works great.  Making calls is addicting.
