I purchased a Savage 555 20ga  Compact with 24" barrels for a turkey gun build. I am going to use a Burris FF3 on this gun, just like my other turkey guns. Please share you opinions, input or experience on drilling and tapping vs the Meadow Creek mount. My other turkey guns came drilled and tapped and I use the Sumtoy protector mount.

I would drill and tap it as for back as you can get.

Drilling and tapping if you can, but the Meadow Creek rib mount on an over under works great too. The smaller action on the over-under brings the rib Mount further back compared to pumps and semi's.  Good luck....
