The call signed in Sharpie is not an original Cost box. Caveat Emptor

Not so sure a couple of the others aren't of dubious authenticity, as well.

Should someone tell the auction house?  I don’t know Jack about box calls so don’t ask me.  I couldn’t tell you who made what when it comes to these calls.

The site is switching positions of the callers, so I'll just say a couple of the callers do not look legit...but it's your money....

Neil did use Sharpies to write on his calls. He used a fine tip or maybe an ultra fine tip.

Personally I think this one is a fake and I would stay away.

But I've been wrong before. But I wouldn't spend my money on it.

Neil did not pick up wood from just anywhere, and he had a certain consistency about how he described what wood he used to make his callers and where he got that wood. Neil was particular about things like that...he didn't do odd stuff...Neil was always Neil, so if it doesn't look quite right, it probably isn't.

Yep. I think that one is bogus for sure.

The box of that call looks like an Albert Paul call that has a new lid. Also, based on the picture alone it looks like the bottom has been sanded as the finish doesn't match the sides. But that could be that picture or the angle of it.

Someone else pointed out to me that it's not signed Neil "D" Cost either.

The one in the picture is definitely not a Cost box.. Damn shame people ripping other people off. It’s sad but someone is going to buy it I’d say. I’ve got 2 and neither one looks like that.

Well, boys.............

I reached out to a feller who is.............well...........as impeccable and knowledgeable source as you'll likely find on these calls.   He did some looking into things and I will directly quote his bottom-line reply.

"These calls are absolutely the real deal".

We, then, had some discussion as to the wherefor's and how-to's.......which I wont detail.  But, I trust this guy's assessment 110%.
