Great ceramic calls.  They can run a much higher pitch than the "usual" ceramic calls.

Uh oh.  I already have a ceramic that I retired early because it was too high pitched.  It squealed.

TKE is right, it definitely has a higher pitch than anything ive ever heard but the birds around here absolutely love it. If i cant get a bird to gobble with that call there isnt any birds around. I wouldnt sell mine for any amount of money. I bought a backup just in case something happens to my first one.
With that said, i was running Busters persimmon slate on thursday and the birds were hammering it. My buddy spooked the first one i called in and i missed the second one with my crossbow. lol

If you only wanted 3 pot calls and had no desire to collect I feel that those 3 should be Dawkins plastic pots in Slate, Crystal and Aluminum. Reasonably priced, elements aren’t going to damage them and they sound as good as any custom you can put against them.
I have probably somewhere around 60 pot calls and love them all but I’ve come to the realization that the plastic Dawkins were the right decision to hunt with.

Well my season ended last weekend so I decided to give my list of 3 pots I used most often this year.  If I had to pick 3 they would be these in no particular order:

Travis Wyatt’s glass over slate in a sappy walnut pot.

Buster Halford’s red slate over glass in a persimmon pot.

Chad Hutcheson’s (Stumpy)  ceramic in a laminated pot.

I had good service and turkey reactions from several other fine pots but kept going back to these 3 due to consistency and I just felt more comfortable with them.

I will say I had some good long range cutting action with Chad Remenaric’s anodized aluminum on 2 separate occasions.  Had one boss hen make a beeline to me from over 300 yards across an open field.  Had other hens fussing with me while using that call.

Im kind of bias but I made 3 in the last week that went straight to my vest. But if I had to pick from other call makers I do have a 3in copper pot form Wendell rye that's killer. I'd also recommend a Carolina assassin by Tony Reynolds.

TL, I feel the same about plastic pots.  I have plenty of different wooden pots but it seems the plastics end up in my vest first.  And the REAL test is they kill birds consistently.  I can't put my finger on the acoustics of the call but most of the plastics have a sound (a hollow sound) that a wooden pot just can't replicate.  The birds will respond to them when they won't respond to other pots.  I've found that laminated strikers like Dymondwood and Frogwood bring out the best in the plastics as well.  I prefer the heavier strikers also.
