I’ve been on my annual Osceola hunt with my buddy at his place in Florida. Although he was able to shoot a nice gobbler last week, the last few days things have been really quiet. Just a few gobbles on roost and that’s been about it for the day. Couple of times we’ve been able to slip around to spots where we could watch the birds from a distance and there have been 6-8 hens dragging the gobblers around, so the gobblers weren’t really interested in our calls and we couldn’t pull the hens either.
This morning we set up on 2 gobblers that were gobbling good on the roost and they continued to gobble at our calling after they were on the ground. Just a little bit of soft calling and we had them gobbling and strutting in front of me at about 30 yards. I watched the show until they started to get a little nervous and were starting to leave, so I shot one. Great hunt!
