okay guys was wondering what some good techniqes of hunting out a boat were i been going up to the 11 point in alton to explore and fish and just realized how much national forest is close to me, i live in NE Arkansas. next season i am going to take my jet jon boat and hunt up there what are some good tips on locating these birds from the river? i know even with the vast amount of land does hunting out a boat help beat the crowd does it usually get a lot of pressure? id like to hunt around the irish springs area but i was told the whole river is accessible with a jet? what are you guys experiences if anybody has ever hunted there. Also i am in Jonesboro would anybody like to hunt up there i would not mind hunting with other members just so i could get some experience turkey hunting this will be my 3rd year and id really like a good shot at a gobbler.

Go fishing before season if you hear them gobbling then they will be there during season.

I hunted out of Alton Mo. for several years and camped on the 11 point .. i'm not sure about using air-boat .. I know a lot of people canoe and such on the river , the river is very low in some spot on that river. A lot of people trout fish the river in these long narrow alum. boats with jet drive engines .. We would hunt the Irish Wilderness .. not near the population of turkeys in those parts anymore ...Wild hogs were becoming a problem along with the timber rattle snakes...

Remember when listening on a river you are in the lowest point around you and you can’t hear as far.  However, the water (absent any noise from rapids) water will magnify what gobbling you can hear.
