Title: 21” M2 Barrel on M1 Receiver
Post by: Moneyball11 on April 20, 2020, 09:28:01 PM
Went out today to shoot a little bit. I have an HK M1 with a new 21" M2 barrel with a .665 IC. I was shooting 3" 1200 FPS #5 LBXRs and was not getting quite the results I was looking for. I would definitely hunt the pattern, but it wasn't all that impressive. Anyone have shell/choke suggestions on a 21" m2 barrel?
Thanks!

.650-.655 in benelli barrels. I have 2 m1s in the 21" and they love the .650

Thank you! Are you using an Indian Creek choke and are they pretty consistent with ammo choices?

No im not. Had one and other chokes out  performed it so i sold it years ago. Kicks .650-.655, Hevi choke is .656, carlsons non ported .650 all have been great in my guns.

Gotcha. Thanks. I've got a Jebs on the way. This stay home order has me thinking about this more than I should! My IC .665 crio may be for sale if it gets out shot...

Don't overlook those standard .650 Carlson chokes. Mine have hurt high dollar chokes feelings a lot. Lol.

The good ole Carlsons is going to be my next stop if the Jebs doesn't produce. Not like they haven't been making solid choke tubes for 30+ years....

I have a M2 with 21 inch barrel . I am shooting a IC 665 . That is my usual go to choke . I have not shot any LB ammo out of it . I have only shot TSS out of it . I am pretty happy with the results . I would really like to try a 660 IC . I think there is a little room for improvement . I'm guessing you may need to go a little tighter with lead . With the shorter 21 and 22 inch barrels I think we need a little tighter . Good luck .

Thanks for the responses everyone. I am going to venture out on an experiment after turkey season using some chokes borrowed and some I own. Going to try IC, Patternmaster, Pure Gold, and Jebs. Constrictions ranging from .670 to .655 shooting both LBXR and TSS. Seeing as I'm tagged out it may be a good time to start planning for next season!

Got a chance to unscientifically pattern the Jebs .660 today. It was a better pattern than what I was previously shooting but I'm going to do more "official" testing in a couple weeks. I will post a report and pics as best I can.

I picked up a benelli m2 with a 21 inch barrel brand new this winter.

Put a IC .655 in it and am shooting 2 3/4 inch handloaded 2 oz loads of #8 tss. It really patterns well. Not looking any further on this gun.

Give Carlson's a try. They have worked well for me in the past.
