Title: Billy Buice Scratch Box
Post by: va longbeard on November 30, 2019, 09:52:13 AM
Thought I would post this, haven't seen a lot of Mr Buice's scratch boxes posted here.

Picked this up when I went to see Mr Buice first week in November.

Great little call.

Double sided slate and wood striker and a single piece slate striker.

I like the simplistic style of it. Like Shoer2 said, I would love to hear it.

I don't have the money to qualify as a yuppie, but thank you much for the translation. :D

Very nice...

How much difference is there between the slate and wood strikers in sound, and how you produce that sound?

Big difference to my ear slate is totally different pitch they both produce sound using the same technique and angle on the striker.

Mr Billy gave my little boy his 1st scratch box with strict instructions not to let me use it and to make sure to not aggravate his momma with it. What a gift from a fine man. I'm jealous. Holly/Magnolia. (He said his grandfather planted the magnolia tree).(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200211/ab5539eb3082ac8f6913bdf72b7c6536.jpg)

Here are the two I have.  Billy only made 4 in black and white ebony.  The other is Alaskan yellow and Eastern red cedar.
