Title: Fall Hunting reports
Post by: eggshell on October 13, 2019, 07:25:39 AM
Season has started in some states. We opened yesterday. How about some reports from the field or some success pictures.

My first day was kind of slow, but I only hunted 3 hrs on some marginal public land. I let the weekend bow hunters have the woods on my very best ground, plus our family farm had their annual fall trail ride. In the end I saw 2 hens with three poults and just played with them a while and let them walk off. I'm hunting a gobbler for at least a little while.

Man, elk tenderloin with sauteed shrooms what time do we eat? That's pretty much a big hooved gobbler laying there. That's also a pretty big mushroom haul. Well done indeed.

I'm all done for 2019. I killed one more fall bird in Ky. (a hen) and went back for my last tag try last Monday and Tuesday. Couldn't find the birds and it was nasty weather. So season is out now for firearms and I'm not going anymore. Now waiting for spring openers. So I ended up with one unfilled tag, I'm not too bothered by that as I had a lot of time in the woods and brought a few birds home this year. Blessed for sure.
