NC has been hard on me this year. I started the season wanting my boys to each get their first gobbler, which they did. Then I had a series of screw ups where the bird got away. Then my 2 yr old family dog unexpectedly died from some form of unknown toxicity and I kind of lost interest in much of anything. I was hunting half heartedly really just to get my mind off of losing my pal. Last night I made a deal with my father (who died a few years ago and was my all time hunting mentor)that if he was with my dog in heaven to give me a sign. Boom. I scored today with my Excalibur on a nice one. Now I can focus on getting the kids another bird....and a puppy.
