Title: Which Turkey Seat
Post by: Tracker12 on April 25, 2019, 07:34:55 PM
No idea what happened to it but my old Turkey chair and turned up missing.  That leads me in search of something new.  Needs to be comfortable easily transported and light.  Suggestions.

Love mine but it is a bit of a Frankenstein...

Part NWTF Lo Boy Lite, Part HS Turkey Seat and some paracord for hinge and added in the foam seat. Light weight and a comfy sit.

Need a better pic but you'll get the idea.

Any of those mentioned are Great.  Makes your butt and back SOOOOOOOOOO much more comfortable.  Allows you to set still with less movement PERIOD!!!!

Regardless of the turkey chair you choose, be sure to take a large black plastic bag or two to spread out before you set up your chair. This will keep your butt dry and your calls, etc. off the damp vegetation.

I bought a backpacking chair from backcountry, Lafuma low chair I believe it's called.

Less than half the weight of a typical gobbler chair and nearly as comfortable.

Maybe not big boy approved though!

Gobbler lounger collected dust all year!

Ive got the Cabelas version and have no real complaints. It is kind of a hassle to lug around but I'm assuming all of them are. The comfort defintely outweighs the hassle.

Are these the chairs your talking about? Found a couple different Lafuma chairs. 2.5 pounds sounds like what I need if it's not squeaky or flimsy. I do like the rounded metal legs that don't dig into the mud. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190514/185a09d9bde383ab609d896ab2529488.jpg)

Yes, no squeaks at all, only thing is it can be tough getting right up against trees with the leg design but man what a difference packing it around.

I sprayed mine olive drab, it's staying on ok.

Don't remember the weight rating but I would be Leary if you weigh more than 180 or so?  I'm 160 and have had zero issues.

At the price if I get 2 seasons out of it it's worth it to me.

If you are like my sons and I and are large hunters over 250lbs consider this seat. I'm 6'-2" and 245 my sons 14 and 16 are both over 6' and 250 and 265 and we use and love this seat.
http://www.alpsoutdoorz.com/products/nwtf/turkey-chairs/turkey-chair

Used it quite hard this year and held up well. A bit bulky to use VS the other design, but worked like a charm and comfy as all heck. I'm not suggesting to buy it from the source I posted as it was only to show a picture of the seat Start looking around now and you will find some great deals. bought the two I use on close out for $25 each bought two and qualified for free shipping.

We went with this design instead of the more collapsible type as I felt it would hold us bigger hunters and withstand our weight better without breaking and they did. The other design never lasted us two full seasons without breaking. Also the other design has four separate feet that we always had sink into the ground this seat sits on single solid bars and sinks very little if at all into the ground.

I attached a small bungee cord to each seat to keep it collapsed and quite during transport.

No offence intended but I have my doubt's that seat would survive long with my 245lbs or either of my sons both at over 250lbs each.

I typically don't use one for turkey hunting but my favorite sheep glassing chair is https://www.rei.com/product/869659/alite-mayfly-chair

I imagine it would work quite well.

Turkey chairs are heavy an bulky to carry,,However on a wet or snowy day they are worth their weight in gold keeping you up off the ground,,I only carry one on messy days.

Got the Lafuma chair in. Super light weight probably less than 2 pounds. It's as comfortable as my gobble lounger and a fraction of the weight. About the perfect height when seated to put  gun on knee. Made in France so I guess that's at least better than China? Seems well built and is completely quiet opening and closing no squeaks either. I wish I'd had it this season. Will probably put a longer adjustable strap on it but maybe the days of deciding on a cushion or a chair before leaving the truck are over. Folds up compact about the size of a vest cushion (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190525/cbf8c237d79c3aac77a3a94dde86f935.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190525/e77171af0d4fce3abf66eae98d65672c.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190525/913de6caf2224614969cb0d684772f94.jpg)

The weight rating said 240 and they have a 2 year warranty.
I think it be fine with 200#. As far as the side to side it will roll over if you lean over but seated it's fine. I like the rounded one piece legs that don't sink in the mud but that does make it easier to roll. If you put the chair up against a tree or tucked in some brush it be plenty stable.
I walk a lot so weight is the number one priority and this thing is light.

I'm a big 360 pounds and I use the Macs turkey seat. Best $25 I've spent and I've broken every other one on the market. Macs is the strongest going.
