All done for this year. Got my second MO bird then two back here in NY. Killed my PA bird this morning. Nice birds, two of them were 2 YOs, but none an upgrade score-wise on my first MO. Time for summer stuff...BBQ turkey breast et al! Good luck to team members still hunting.

You have had a great year! I am cooking a turkey thigh and leg in the Instapot so I can make some turkey noodles. Good luck to the rest of our team members.

You mention an Instapot. Usually, I cook spring birds in the crock pot...dark or white meat...because everything comes out tender in a crock pot. I decided to do something a bit different yesterday. I wrapped four thighs in aluminum foil and baked them for several hours at 300*. They were tender, but kind of dry. So, in the future I'll go back to the crock pot.

It is hard to beat the old crock pot. The Instapot is a type of pressure cooker and may not be as good as crock pot. Slow cook is always best. I am many times disappointed with tenderness of my turkeys and dryness of turkey meat is always a consideration. As always Best wishes for the coming year. :turkey2:

I use a simple recipe of soaking the breast meat in buttermilk overnight, the grill on medium with just salt/pepper until almost done and then wrap in tinfoil for the remaining time.  Pull off the grill and keep tinfoil wrapped for a few minutes to let the meat settle.

Do the same with the dark meat, but boil it first.
