Title: Sound question
Post by: sbbow on March 19, 2019, 12:47:11 PM
Do you think wingbone, cane call an trumpet sound different? To me they sound the same but I'm new to these so I thought I would ask. Thanks

I would say similar. There's going to be slight varying degrees of difference in wingbones and Jordans, simply because of the natural difference of your materials, no matter how much the maker tries to make them the same. Obviously, between the makers of even Trumpets, there's differences in the internals. But I get what you're saying.... all yelpers have a similar tonal quality.

Not enough difference for me to tell which is which.  I'd be impressed if someone could hear the calls at a distance and tell me which is which.   It would take a mighty well trained ear.

I feel as though I can control a trumpet better than a bone for sure.

I think wingbones sound a touch different than trumpets up close when I am playing them. But at a distance I don't know if I could tell a difference with me playing them anyway. All of them are great calls!!!
