Title: Favorite Hudson Hen Box
Post by: MDTOM84 on March 17, 2019, 05:06:23 PM
What's everyone's favorite Hudson Hen Box that doesn't have a snakewood lid?

I have a bloodwood over persimmon that sounds great. I know you said no snakewood , but imo , snakewood on a hen box sounds the best.

Mahogany with persimmon lid. It's the first one of several I have bought from Richard and it's still my favorite

Both those combos, snakewood over teak and rosewood over apple are great. To be honest...they are all great. My favorite is his Turpin style.

That call in the classified by bowhuntr73 is a good box. If one of you want one id jump on that call. Cause I sure dont know when i will get more of that Teak. That is a Teak Suriname Ironwood box.

I hit Mr.Richards box this morning and about five hundred yards away the ol boss hen got fired up. I started mimicking her and she couldn't stand it. Came in on a string to 15 yards. To me that's when you know you got a good one

True but that is one of the best sounding hen boxes I have ever hear. Bad thing about teak is it is a oily wood so it absorbs chalk faster than many other woods. You keep it chalked good , you would be hard pressed to find one that sounds better.
