Title: #4 buck through a turkey choke?
Post by: BlakeJ on March 17, 2019, 10:58:51 AM
Our place is overrun with pigs. I'd like to wipe out an entire litter of piglets with one shot if they come by. Do you think it would be safe to pop in a #4 buckshot round and shoot it through a turkey choke?

#4 buck can be shot through a turkey choke but will pattern best with a less restrictive choke. Friends of mine run coyotes with hounds up in Maine and they all use extra full or full chokes with #4 buck.

We shoot #4 buck and dead coyote T shot through as tight as .660 turkey chokes- but some choke manufacturers may not recommend it in their chokes.

We use turkey chokes in our shotguns, deer hunting with dogs down here in the south , shooting #4, #1, and #00 buckshot

For my Beretta A300 mobilchoke, Trulock recommended a .670 for a dual purpose predator(4#buck) / turkey choke.  I have taken multiple coyotes and turkeys with the combination.
