Title: Vortex venom mounting question
Post by: Wayman on March 08, 2019, 06:41:17 AM
I have a Remington 870 that has a rail mounted on the receiver,I was wondering is it better to mount it towards the front or the back of the rail????

Have the same setup. I mounted mine further back because I like to hold my shotgun by the receiver right where you mounted yours.

The farther back you go the more field of view you have through the sight. Mine is on the back of the receiver. I haven't tried it towards the front but I think I would prefer it on the back.

Ok thanks   I'll move it back.  I just wanted some advice before I lock tight it all up

Can being up front or on the back of the rail have enough effect on dot adjustment so you don't run out of adjustment?

Its personal preference.  On my ar that i carry for work my sight is mounted as far forward on receive as i can.  On my turkey gun i used a sumtoy mount on the rear two screws.  To my eye i cant tell any difference in field of view.
