I will take a shot at it....
I'm hunting big mountains in the PNW so a loud call gets them coming from a long ways away.. I have three categories.

Locator-
Crystal/Brass purple heart pot
Aluminum/Slate Osage pot
*Glass/Glass Zebrawood Ping pot
Mid-
*Glass/copper ziricote pot
3.25 glass/copper ziricote pot
Green slate/Copper Ziricote pot
Endgame-
Gray slate/copper ziricote pot
Green slate/glass claro Walnut pot

These are all Sinclair pots.

Strikers two pieces dymondwood and snakewood
Realistically I probably won't be carrying 8 pots but will probably carry 4-6.

Long Box - Watkins' Mora over Poplar
Short Box - Frank Kruer Walnut Mahogany
Crystal - Jimmy Schaffer Mad Hen 1 or Jimmy Schaffer Blue Mahoe
Aluminum - Lonzo Black Acrylic
Slate - Lonzo Green Slate in Rosewood
Ceramic - Lonzo can't remember the wood but it sounds great
Doug Herman Nail Call if I can get the hang of it before the opener.  Just got it this weekend so should be good to go.

If it is raining just some factory stuff I have had for a long time. If decent Russel Beard Longbox, Black palm slate by Chain Reaction and Mac Green Slate. They are the first 3 calls I got when I became a member here. Still learning my vest RNG-300 but maybe more if I can.

This is what I have figured out so far.

Slate- Lonnie Mabry cedar or walnut. Change up- Halloran green slate.

Ceramic- stumpy sycamore. Change up- Olin humphries cherry.

Glass/crystal- T.l Jones bronzed glass mesquite pot. Change up-  Halloran crystal mistress, double glass and perfection screamin demon 2.

Aluminum- lights out canary wood. Change up- lonzo bubinga and Jimmy Schaffer figured maple both double aluminum.

Other pots that will get rotated- Yingling spalted maple copper, Sinclair ziricote titanium, cocobolo brass and lights out tiger wood stainless steel.

Box call- Albert Paul walnut/poplar. Change up- SS calls butternut/kwila & purple heart/cedar.

Scratch box- Allen Dunfee witches fiddle. Change up- SS calls butternut/kwila and pappy black wood/maple.

Wing bone- Tony Ezolt. Change up- Ezolt cane yelper,Daryal  Gosey trumpet and Baublit black wood tube.

Still messing with mouth calls.

I didn't even list all the calls I have that I would hunt. It looks like a long list but I carry 4 pots, 6 strikers, 1 box call, 1 scratch box-, 1 air operated call at a time.

Dang. Some of you have basketball starting lineups but there’s several football sized lineups on here too. Do y’all have a Sherpa to push a wheelbarrow around the woods to haul em?

Opening day I will probably have a little bit of everything. A few pots: Lonzo glass over glass, halford glass over slate, and a strawser green slate. A few Lyman strikers to go with those. Will probably open the season with a Watkins macassar/cedar box and a couple mouth calls. The season can’t open soon enough.

Right now its looking like;

Platz cherry glass over glass
Brad Roberts cedar green slate over glass
Lonzo bullet tree bronzed glass over slate
Stumpy sycamore ceramic over glass
Watkins ebony over butternut
Watkins mora over mulberry

Not 100% on the mora over mulberry, if its not that it will be another real raspy box like ebony over persimmon or bloodwood over apple

I will probably take my Watkins coaxer call too, but I need to figure out some sort of slim case to put that in, being it will likely go in a cargo pocket on the vest.

Footballer sassafras green slate
Eddie wynn zebrawood glass over aluminum

I’m trying to convince myself into only carrying one of my Buice Trumpets. I really want to work a turkey start to finish with one of them. My guess is that I will also carry a Mabry walnut slate, a Watkins bloodwood over beach fiddle box and a Woodhaven toxic orange mouth call, though.

Still holding try outs for 1st string, but so far

Van Cise box
Hooks prodigy diaphragm (probably 2 - they’re pretty light)
Sweetbriar cherry aluminum
Stumpy ceramic
Some gray slate (one of 3 or 4)
Misfire trumpet

... or a .22 mag and a 50 lb bag of corn
Title: Re: Starting lineup
Post by: Jbird22 on February 18, 2019, 08:22:28 PM
Haven't decided but this is what I'd go with if I was hunting tomorrow:

Crystal - David Halloran Crystal Mistress
Slate - Doug Morgan Yellowheart
Slate - Sadler McGraw Purr Pot
Aluminum - Mark Cunningham Walnut Green Aluminum
Bronzed Glass - Andy Kaiser FBE or Redheart (coin toss, both are good)

Strikers - a mix from Harold Fowler, Dewey Johnson (Dad's), Fred Cox, and Andy Kaiser

Mouth Calls - a few different versions with a modified ghost cut that I make
Box - Either a David Halloran Cost-style or Doug Morgan Turpin-style
Tube call - a B&W Ebony Doug Morgan/Jbird collaboration
Trumpet/Wingbone - A wingbone I made for myself from a 2 yr old gobbler I killed last year

Locators - HS Strut Palmers Hoot Tube (Wood) and Hooks Crow (Synthetic)...Hardly ever used either

Yes. It pairs great with trumpets for those of us that can’t purr on one. Use it when they are getting close to pull them into range. Great for soft purrs, clucks, and tree yelps. Even get a good fighting purr on it. Great little versatile purr pot.

A pair of high heels could yield great traction but I guess I’m too old school to try thank God. I’d never use or carry a purse I wouldn’t care what year it was. Don’t take that as offense, just my thoughts.
I’m not gonna look at anyone else crooked for using it though.
There’s some good points about being hot but if you had to carry a seat n whatever else I’d still carry a vest. It’s easy, grab a gun, vest n go. Everything is in it. If it’s warm dress lighter. Maybe a T-shirt n Shannon’s bug tamer suit. Don’t forget the lipstick!! Sorry brother lol. Just funnin hope you see it that way

Here’s my opening day lineup. Maybe not all of them but in some combination depending on weather. The Cody is always in the vest. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190225/26f4976d0b1b35427697f29c01cf0c25.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190225/d2ce0542d6c86486eabab31a0dc8c664.jpg)

Ol’ Yeller - ceramic
StoryTeller - Slate
Canyon Cutter - Aluminum
Moonshiner - Crystal or maybe stick with my Scarlet Fever, I’m a bit torn. I’ll probably just carry both.

To be honest I’m not totally sure. I purchased it in 2016. Now I’m interested. Is there a way to tell the difference?

YES. THE first series  was just like the description  ** SOUND board is slate ** second series SOUND board is red acrylic   found out where too complain to  ,, I did wasn't happy don't SOUND the same at all
Look through the SOUND holes its either red acrylic or grey slate.   The slate SOUND board sounds soo good  the acrylic is very high pitch
