Title: Dymondwood
Post by: Flydown Custom Calls on February 06, 2019, 06:11:49 PM
Anyone have any tips on finding Dymondwood. I know the factory burnt down but I keep seeing people making Dymondwood strikers. Just curious if there's a secret to finding it or if anyone has some that they would be willing to part with. Thanks in advance for any input.

Josh

You have remember, when they burned down, and decided not to rebuild, what was left out there, was it!  No more!  Once that stock is used up, that's it, it's gone!  I bought some from Rutland right before it burned down.  But its not for sale.  Shipley had some 5/16 dowels about a year ago, but I see now, they do not list any on their web site.  They do list dymalux.  I've tried to find vendors who may carry it, but to no avail.  My guess is, that remaining supplies have now dried up, or about to.

It got more resin in it. Dymalux  IMO not as good for strikers especially on glass the resin loads up in the glass.  I had a guy send me some other stuff that was highpitched junk.

Brookside has 5/16 pre rounded Dymondwood dowels. I ordered some the other day. Sounds as good as my older stuff.
