Title: Mr. Harold Fowler
Post by: Turkeytider on January 12, 2019, 09:32:22 PM
Had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Harold in person at Unicoi today. I didn't think it possible, but if anything he's even nicer in person than over the phone. Just a fine gentleman. Picked up a couple more of his excellent strikers. He's continuing to not take orders through the web site, but if anyone wants one of his strikers, suggest you give him a call. He had a wide selection available at the show. If you've never spoken to Mr. Harold, do it. Once you do, you'll know the definition of a classy man. And you may just set yourself up with a couple of excellent strikers!

Tell him what surface you have and what type of sound you want and then buy what he tells you.

I was on his website last night and he still has a note saying due to illness he is not taking any orders at this time. Does anyone know if this is the case?

Mr Fowler , cancer has returned and he's in pretty bad health , he was at Unicoi and was selling what he had left of a lot of different strikers .. He's hoping his son may start making the strikers in the future ....

I am so very sorry to hear this. Such a fine gentleman. Meeting him was the high point of my first Unicoi. I feel very fortunate to have some of his strikers. Bless him.

I am sorry to hear of Mr. Fowler's health problems. As has been said he is a fine fine gentleman. I met him last year at Unicoi and picked up 3 of his strikers. I took my Halloran Twisted Sister with me and he allowed me to run as many of his strikers that I wanted until I found the ones I had to have. He even ran the call himself and recommended the same one I liked as well....tulip wood tip with a persimmon wood handle. Boy it is a smoker let me tell ya!!! No way will I part with it, especially after hearing of his health issues. I will surely be praying for him.

You might still be able to if you give him a call. I don't think he's turning any more new ones, but he had boxes of them at Unicoi.

Everybody who turkey hunts needs to do two things. One is to get at least one of his strikers. They are excellent and pieces of artwork, IMHO. Second, give him a call and talk to him as a part of getting a striker. I predict that the striker ordering part will become the least significant part of that conversation. Do it and you`ll see what I mean.

Met him in person for the first time at Unicoi. He told me that he was getting ready for his next chemo round. He was in good spirits but appeared somewhat frail ( somewhat expected ). Mr. Harold is 77 or 78 I believe. He told me that he was going to continue to NOT take orders over his web site. He prefers to talk to people over the phone anyway and said he would prefer that people call him. Once you know Mr. Harold, you won`t be surprised that he said that. Didn`t say as to whether or not he was going to be turning new strikers, but he had a ton of them there. His phone number is on his web site.
