Between work and everything else this is the first time I've visited the site in a while... this is horrible news to come back to. Just like what has already been stated, Mr.Jack was as fine of a man as I've ever talked to, although I've never got the chance to meet him face to face we had a few conversations through this site and he was always willing to help at the drop of a hat. His craftsmanship was as good as any I've ever seen also (in any trade). He will be missed for sure. Prayers sent up for his family.
-
Well this is sad news, Jack was a very talented craftsman

If someone could, even through pm please send his address so I can send condolences to his family.

I have various multiple call types and a great knife from pappy. He was always a great guy to deal with and always helpful. Enjoyed a phone conversation or two with him.
I will miss seeing his posts with the great calls and knives on here .
RIP Jack.
-
Yes, sad...He was a great craftsman and a genuinely nice man.
Jack made me a couple of calls just before he passed. He kept contacting me to see if I got them (my mail is slow). When I did finally get them, he thanked me and wished me well. Just the kind of guy he was.
A friend bought something from him and somehow the order got mixed up and he got somebody else's order. He told Jack to send him the other person's info. and he'd ship it on to them. Jack was grateful for that and insisted on my friend not paying for his order and Jack was going to send it to him anyway. My friend refused but Jack, instead of just making things right as any good person would, insisted and when his order came there was, if I recall correctly, a striker and maybe a tube call? It was way over the top and my friend was dumbfounded.
That's just the kind of guy Jack was...

Prayers sent to Jacks family.
Jack was a great man. He made a couple of fine scratch boxes for me and helped me to learn how to use them. I will miss talking with him. Rest in peace Jack.

Very saddened to hear of this , time for me to weigh in and not just say some nice words but to tell you the truth.
.Pappy was the nicest man you could ever know ...truth , he was a blessing to us here -- I myself and my wife Annie not only liked Pappy , we LOVED him , and will miss him dearly , he was dear friend of the entire forum -My life is so hectic and I have hardly anytime these days to check up on things so I apologize for the long delay -- I greatly enjoyed chatting with him on the phone on long drives , asking general life experience questions that only a very wise old gentleman could help me with , he helped me keep my wits a d nerve on some of the most trying times years and years ago when the OG was started , He was a amazing craftsman and I learned so much from him , and he helped me alot , and he also helped the forum grow by helping out soo much , he was always a friend to help me with advice and a unique perspective when I needed it, and needed it badly
There is so many stories that are so touching and personal , he shared with me , you just got to spend time with a person like pappy to really appreciate and value him , he was gold!
He told me so many times how he loved making calls for the Turkey hunters ,
I have soo much to say , but for now I want to say his family is in my prayers.
Take Care Pappy, hope to see you again one day --Shannon

Prayers for the family. A family man who could craft anything he set his mind to. To finding driftwood from the Mississippi and turning them into some of the most awesome calls. I will truly miss Jack, the stories and pics.

I haven’t been on the site since last spring and missed this. I got to know pappy through Ccleroy. Jack built me a an old “hoot” tube back in 2010. Hate to read this.
-
I know a lot of people bought calls from Pappy. I was thinking of starting a thread when the season opens so anybody that wanted to could post a picture of a gobbler they killed using one of Pappys calls. I think it would be a fitting tribute to someone that will be missed.
-
Prayers up for him and the family. Enjoyed writing back and forth with him some last spring.
Godspeed Pappy!
