Title: Lip Stop Examples Added - Trumpet Build #5 - Cocobolo
Post by: gergg on October 14, 2018, 08:39:57 AM
I was in the shop last night turning this Cocobolo trumpet. A piece of "scrap" that turned out to hide some lovely grain. This is just bare wood, no finish yet, man Cocobolo is a beautiful wood. Always open to comments, so fire away.

Messing with a few new lip stop sizes, I think I like this one.

Greg, other than the lip stop, I think it's perfect. Awesome, awesome looking trumpet buddy!

Thanks for commenting Chris.....I tried to cut the stopper, but it is best I get another size or get some material that is carve-able.

Beautiful figure in this piece of wood, very nice looking trumpet
I favor the more traditional style, but I think this is a great looking design, nicely done

everybody's eye is different, to my eye I think the lines would flow a little better if the wood was turned to a little smaller diameter where it connects to the brass ferrel. and a little shorter lipstop.

you have come up with a very sharp looking design as it is, very nice.
the two little tweaks I mentioned are only my opinion

I liked the sound file, to my ear (from that recording) I hear a nice mellow adult hen, sounds really good

I agree, I see the same things as you, working on "fixing" both of them. Thanks for the input.

Messing with a few new lip stop sizes, I think this one sits well with me for now.

Nice lipstop shape, that blends very well with the rest of the trumpet.
And the grain in that coco gets prettier every time I look at it.
