How do you guys like Steve's Calls? I'm thinking about ordering one or two. What's y'all experience with ordering from him?

Pay up front and get a call in the mail in 2 or 3 years. No communication in between order and receiving call. Nice Calls that sound really good but there are too many other call makers that make just as good and several better without the loooong wait and awesome customer service. Just my experience on 2 occasions. After 2 years I just contacted him and got a refund.
I don't mind waiting years for a call,but I would probably have a problem paying and waiting years. Most of the guys I buy calls from that have a long wait contact me when my name comes up and I send payment and within a few weeks the call is in the mail.
One callmaker I buy from I pay in advance and within a few months I've gotten my call or calls. Thats about as far out as i care to go.
What happens to your money waiting that long if something happens to the guy or Life throws a curve ball at him? No Thanks that system isn't for me.
I'd wait and buy one off the classifieds or put up a WTB add in the call classifieds.
I've tried contacting him about 5 times to place an order never once got a reply.

Other him taking a year to send my call he was cool to deal with
Things must have surely picked up for him.
I ordered from him a few years ago and sure didn't have a wait got my Pure Death in a few days of ordering. I have killed a BUNCH OF TURKEYS WITH IT. The number on the call is 073.

I tried contacting Steve on several occasions after ordering two calls. Never got a response. Finally went through hoops to get a refund. Would have probably waited for calls if had some sort of reply to my inquiries. Sounds like he's a great guy but must be really busy! Went elsewhere for calls. Probably didn't hurt his feelings! :funnyturkey:
Texted Steve today on wha was best to condition my call and he actually called me back instead of texting .
Very cordial and we chatted for awhile
Now is a good time to order your call
Have a friend that this is the 2nd or 3rd year waiting. If he is free now he should be able to build the call and get it to him

Seems like the best strategy is to just over pay for one when one comes up on the Swapboards and avoid the whole ordeal.

DavisD took me exactly 13 months from phone call to playing call
I actually would text or call Steve and keep up with him
He's actually a nice guy but a true southern country boy who works real hard at his real job

I got lucky and snatched one up on here back in February for a great deal. I wanted a Pure Death for years but I thought they couldn't be any better than the other quality custom calls I have. Well I'm a believer now! This call just sounds incredible and it plays so easy. By far the best call purchase I've made!
I could say the same for a few call makers. Take your Money, tell you a few weeks. Months later I've asked for refund.
I'd like to own or try a few out there but I'm not going there again.
I know people are busy, don't tell me 2 weeks and expect me to be ok with it 4 months later.

I ordered a pure death and another call from him several years ago. It took over a year to get the calls after paying for them up front. I was not impressed with either call when I got them. They were decent calls but certainly not worth waiting over a year for.
I called him during the year wait just "checking in" on the progress. He talked about how busy he was and how much coon hunting he was doing. That man likes to talk too.

That's a good question. He makes a pretty good sounding pot and his craftsmanship is spot on. I owned 2 and sold both. Nothing special about his calls imoh.

That's because if it says Supreme, it must be magic.
He makes a good call ,don't get me wrong.
But so do a lot of lesser known call makers, with a lot less drama.
