Title: My first tube call
Post by: Life of Riley on March 21, 2018, 07:51:10 PM
I've never used or seen anyone else use a tube call, but I'm interested in getting one. I have been looking at some in the midwest catalog. Any one have a recommendations for someone new to tubes?

No one makes tube calls like Pappy, not sure if he is making calls right now. Joe Slaton of motherload turkey calls makes an inexpensive tube call and has many Youtube instructionals out there. Matt McClain also makes one they claim is good. If you are buying a tube call give yourself plenty of time to practice, but I would say it is my favorite call to gobble on, as it took me a long time to become proficient on it. Good Luck

Get one each of the Doan's cans Barry Arrington makes with the holes poked in. One will fit your mouth better until you learn. Don't use too thick a reed for hen talk. Try not to sound like a goose.

I have several of Matt McClains and also Daddy Rat both on O.G. make nice ones..
I second what Howl said..I like the lighter latex on a tube call(tan or yellowish color). I don't care for the green.which is thicker.
