Title: Hevi-13 3-1.25-7's- What can I expect for a 40 yard pattern?
Post by: chatterbox on February 10, 2018, 09:48:27 AM
Before anyone states this, I have looked for pattern pics already! :TooFunny: :TooFunny: :TooFunny:
With Federal dropping the Heviweight #7's, I'm looking for an alternative tungsten round, and will be trying the Hevi-13 3-1.25-7's.
What is a realistic 40 yard pattern number?
I have a ton of the Federal ammunition left, but will need a plan B.

Well I got in the 140's in the 10" at 40 yards without any fuss.
Weatherby 26" barrel with a hevi-shot choke.
May help if you let guys know what gun and choke you are useing to help with recommendations.

Got in the high 130 with the 6s in my 870 and original jellyhead and Carlson's. 570 non-ported.  Very even and killed to 38 for the longest shot with authority.   Like you, I have a butt load of heavyweight 7s, but I always like to have a plan B.

Beretta 20 ga. AL391 Urika shot consistent 140's at 40 yards. 26" barrel with Carlson's .575. When I run out Fed HWT 7's I'll probably go to the Hevi-13 7's. If the bug to try TSS 7's bites me I might shoot them to see how how they perform.

If the TSS bug bites you, get the 9s instead of the 7s unless required by law.
