Title: My first year...
Post by: Grey Owl on May 05, 2017, 06:01:57 PM
I appreciate being allowed into the forum. I've hunted all of my life but about 2 weeks into turkey season this year I decided to really try to learn how to hunt them. I'm hunting the North Cherokee NF in East TN. So far, I've learned to locate a few gobblers with a crow call but haven't killed anything yet but I'm enjoying the learning process. I've only got until May 14 to connect this year.

Appreciate any advice, especially from those who hunt mountain turkeys, about locating, setup, calls, etc.

Thanks.

Gotta locate em before you hunt imo. That should be done pre season. If it's not get somewhere up high n either straight listen or shock em. Should be leafy enough to get relatively close especially in mountainous terrain.  As posted already keep at it, that's how we best learn.
