Post by: Gumby on February 11, 2017, 08:24:22 PM
Took the 12ga out to make sure she was still on. 3" Hevi 13 #6s out of factory Briley .675 choke. First pic is 30 and second is at 40. 275 and then 160 in the 10"

Is that turkey slayer fairly light? I've been thinking of picking one up

I put a Hevishot 3", 7 in the chamber and two hevi 6's in the magazine.  If you haven't tried the 7's, you might want to give them a try.  In my Turkeyslayer w/ an IC .660 I get @206 in the 10" w/ 6's and @ 250-260 w/7's.

I like anything Ithaca makes these days but their turkey slayer is the best.

I took Gumby's advice and shot the Hevi #6's out of my Ithaca Turkeyslayer with stock choke with wicked results!  Thanks for the advice, Hevi 6's (2oz) loads are definitely the ticket for the Turkeyslayer!  Thanks for the advice.

Anytime! The 7s work great as well. I prefer the 6s as they are very even and pattern great

Just bought one! I have wanted one of these guns since they first came out. I will be patterning it soon I hope if the weather stays good. Thanks for the starting point with shells y'all listed.
Some of my fondest memories are duck hunting with my Daddy and him shooting his model 37 30 inch full choke with hi power 6s, ooohhhh the good old days of LEAD SHOT!

HAVE A GOOD ONE

Just shot mine with NITROS and Hevi 3 inch 7s. Both patterns were awesome! Of course the Nitros were tighter but the 7s were a great even pattern better hunting pattern.  I will probably  shoot the Hevi 7s  No sight adjustments required which was surprising to me. Dead on!

That's gonna leave a mark! :help: Nice pattern. I've been shooting Hevi 13 for years. They will flat out them down.

I used to shoot the old white Hevi 6's out of a Briley .675.  Threw about the same pattern, it was a good choke.

Every time someone mentions Nitro's I think about my buddies. Multiple of them had them stick from pressure so bad they had to beat hulls out w stick.
Another buddy blew his barrel  up twice. A turkey slayer barrel isn't customer changeable. I'd not play Russian roulette w it
